Bacvice Beach – Spend The Day
Bacvice beach – less than five minutes’ walk from Split’s main bus station and ferry terminal – is that it’s a city beach, used by everyone. A modest half-moon of shingle lined with a couple of bars (most notably Žbirac) and few nightclubs just meters from the sea. The beach is known for its very soft sand, and very clear water. The water here is not very deep, so people like to play a popular game picigin in the shallow water. If you’re feeling really adventurous enough, try and join in with a game of picigin, a popular local pastime for which Bačvice is famous. It involves a group of lithe-looking lads arranged in a circle who use their acrobatic skills to hit a small rubber ball between themselves – the more outrageous the dive to save the ball from hitting the water, the more admiring the looks from everyone on the beach…
If you spend a day on the Bačvice beach you might notice the buildings on the left side of the beach, in the evening this place turns in to a party “mile”, one of the most popular places, especially among the younger audience, is the Club Bačvice, here you have techno beats and cave dancers to speed up the party.
